We are thrilled to welcome local winemaker Jeff Emery (pictured left) of Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard to Soif! Jeff is a skilled winemaker, and an expert on our local wine region. In 1979 Ken Burnap (the founder of SCMV) hired Jeff for part-time cellar work and vineyard tending while Jeff was studying at UCSC. It wasn't long before Jeff caught the "wine-making bug," and what started as a part-time job turned into a career. Upon Ken's retirement in 2002, Jeff took over the winery.
In addition to the traditional Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard wines, Jeff also produces wines under the label Quinta Cruz. Inspired by the wines he tasted on a trip to Portugal, Jeff decided to produce his own line of wines using grape varietals from the Iberian Peninsula. Growing these varieties in the Santa Cruz mountains has resulted in the creation of some truly unique wines.
The tasting will take place Saturday, March 10th from 2pm - 4pm in our restaurant. We'll be pouring the following wines:

- 2013 Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard "Bailey's" Pinot Noir
- 2015 Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard Grenache
- 2012 Quinta Cruz Souzão - Alta Mesa
- 2013 Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard Petite Sirah
- 2009 Quinta Cruz Rabelo "Late Bottled Vintage"
The cost of the tasting is $20 for general admission, and free for Soif Wine Club Members. Tickets may be purchased below, or in our wine shop.
