On March 7th, we will be teaming up with our sister restaurant La Posta to offer a night of incredible Italian food and wine! Visiting us all the way from Piedmont is Renato Vacca, head winemaker of Cantina del Pino. When it comes to Barbaresco, Cantina del Pino is truly an institution. It was under the winery's founder, Domizio Cavazza, that the wine made from Nebbiolo in the surrounding area came to be called Barbaresco. A former director of the Royal Enological School in Alba, Domizio utilized his skill and knowledge of wines to plant the first vineyards at Cantina del Pino.
Renato's great-grandfather purchased the estate from the Cavazza family upon Domizio's passing. Since then, generations of Vaccas have continued to produce exemplary wines. As the current head of Cantina del Pino, Renato (pictured below) carries on the traditions of the winemakers before him.
The night will begin with a tasting of Cantina del Pino wines at Soif from 5pm - 7pm. Following the tasting, dinner with the winemaker will be held at La Posta at 7:30pm. The cost of the tasting at Soif is $15 for general admission, and free for Soif Wine Club Members. The wines we'll be pouring at Soif are as follows:

- 2012 Cantina del Pino Barbaresco "Ovello" $65
Dinner at La Posta is $125 per person, which will include different wines paired with the meal. If you have any seating requests for the dinner portion of the evening, please contact La Posta.
