The Antonelli family has been producing high quality wines within Montefalco's DOCG wine making area for over a century. Filippo Antonelli, the current head of the family estate, has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the terroir of Montefalco. The Antonelli vineyards are grown along hillsides where the soil is clayey, and rich with limestone deposits from varying geological periods. This unique terrain results in wines with depth and complexity, that are known for their ability to age well. We will be pouring the following selections from Antonelli San Marco:

2015 Antonelli Montefalco Rosso

2014 Antonelli Sagrantino ‘Contrario’

2012 Antonelli Sagrantino di Montefalco

The Scarbolo family's passion for both food and wine is evident in their work. Valter Scarbolo, founder of Azienda Agricola Scarbolo, is also an acclaimed restaurateur. Together he and his son, Mattia produce wines that are balanced in their aromas and rich in their flavors. The estate's vineyards are located in the heart of the Friulian plains in northern Italy, and benefit from red clay soils mixed with alluvial deposits, minerals and chalk, which provide optimal drainage conditions. The climate is dry, however it is well ventilated by winds of alternating temperatures. Cool breezes from the east and warm marine breezes from the Adriatic, result in ideal conditions for slower ripening, and more flavorful grapes.  We will be pouring the following wines from Scarbolo:

2016 Scarbolo Friulano

2016 Scarbolo Pinot Grigio

2013 Scarbolo Merlot ‘Campo del Viotto’

The tasting will take place from 5pm to 7pm in our wine shop. The cost of the tasting is $15 for general admission, and free for Soif Wine Club Members. Tickets may be purchased  at the event.
